One Water: Shifting Paradigms in Critical Resource Synergies

The water industry has clearly transitioned from pollution abatement to resource recovery, aiming to become an active participant in circular economy efforts. Yet the full potential of this transformational endeavour will not depend on technology developments solely, but very importantly, on the development of demand for recovered resources. Meanwhile, we have come to the realization that there are three essential enablers that will facilitate the ongoing shifting into this new paradigm: Decarbonisation, Digitalisation, and Smart Operations. This workshop will explore how these elements are not only enablers but should be considered as imperatives in efforts to manage the water cycle in a sustainable and resilient manner as we face the challenges of accelerated urbanization in the 21st century and beyond in both the developed and still developing world.
