Philippe Rohner is the co-founder and managing partner at Abic Partners LLC a consultancy firm focusing on the interrelationships between social vector mobility, human capital development and environmental stewardship.

He began his career as a Chemical Engineer at Texaco’s Port Arthur Research Labs (Air & Water Conservation Dept). Then he joined Ciba-Geigy (Pigments Division) where he held managerial roles as Principal Chemist (R&D), as Production Manager at sites both in the UK and in Switzerland. With the merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz forming the life science company Novartis, he was seconded to Investor Relations for the spin-off of its industrial businesses (now part of BASF).

He moved to the banking sector joining Pictet & Cie. in the role of Equity Analyst (Institutional Brokerage Services) now part of Baader Helvea, subsequently joining Pictet’s Asset Management organization as Sr. Investment Manager where he co-managed several of its theme focused mutual funds most notably the Pictet Water fund. In the years proceeding his retirement, he also headed and chaired the various thematic advisory board meetings.

As a P.E. licensee and later as Chartered Chemist he was cited as co-invented in several US and International patents (synthetic fuel gases and synthetic pigment manufacturing processes) and more recently co-edited along with Asit K. Biswas and Cecilia Tortajada, the book “Assessing Global Water Megatrends”.

A recipient of both a BSc. in Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science degrees, he completed post graduate courses in Investor Relations and Environmental Engineering. His PhD is in Industrial and Engineering Chemistry from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zurich) and holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow).
