Ahmed Aboutaleb is the Mayor of the City of Rotterdam, currently serving the city in his third elected term since 2009. Previously, he served as a State Secretary for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (2007-2008) and as a Vice Mayor in Amsterdam (2004-2007) for the Dutch Labour Party. An advocate of climate resilience initiatives, Mayor Aboutaleb has led the Resilient Rotterdam strategy implementation and is engaged in global resilience initiatives including the Resilient Cities Network, C40, and the 1000 Cities Adapt Now program.
