Programme

11.00AM – 11.10AM Opening Remarks by Ong Tze Chin, Chief Executive, PUB (Roundtable Chair)
11.10AM – 11.15AM Introduction to Roundtable proceedings by Piers Clark (Moderator)
11.15AM – 12.00PM Session 1: Master Planning and Flood Risk Management
Master planning is crucial for cities to build flood resilience as it provides a comprehensive framework for managing growth, infrastructure, and land use in ways that minimise flood risks. By aligning urban development with flood risk management strategies, cities can create adaptive, flood-resilient environments that can protect lives, reduce economic losses, and enhance their ability to recover quickly from flood events.
12.00PM – 1.45PM Group photo and Networking lunch
1.45PM – 2.30PM Session 2: Flood Mitigation Operation and Recovery
Effective flood mitigation operations can minimise the impact of floods on communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems. By implementing measures such as flood control barriers and early warning systems, these operations help to reduce the risk of flooding and protect vulnerable areas.
2.30PM – 3.15PM Session 3: Community and Social Resilience
Strengthening social networks and community engagement can significantly enhance a city’s ability to withstand and recover from flooding events. When communities are actively engaged in flood risk awareness and response, they can respond more quickly and effectively to flood situations.
3.15PM – 3.30PM Wrap-up by Moderator and Closing Remarks by Roundtable Chair
