Alan specialises in the environmental engineering and economic and social impact assessment of major energy projects and has worked extensively in the oil, gas and nuclear power industries. His specialist area is the construction and reinstatement of cross-country pipelines in environmentally sensitive areas – the subject of his doctoral thesis, approved in 1988, that initiated the founding of RSK in 1989. Through RSK, Alan has fulfilled his passion for creating a sustainable business with people at its heart. From humble beginnings with two people working from a room in Helsby, UK, Alan has developed RSK into a global success story. Going forward, Alan hopes to lead RSK to further success, with an aim to become the largest privately owned environmental and engineering business in Europe; to turn over £1 billion annually; and to employ 10,000 people by 2025.
