About

water-leaders-summit-event-banner.jpg
The Water Leaders Summit (WLS) presents an exclusive high-level gathering of global water industry leaders for exchanges with government regulators and policy think-tanks to discuss solutions to pressing water issues.

WLS 2018 focused on the urgent question of how water management should evolve as cities develop. This gathering of high officials, industry captains and opinion makers offered abundant opportunities to confer on key areas, such as closing the water-energy-waste loop, water reuse, and smart water technologies. Delegates can also expect to interact with mayors of leading international cities who are attending the World Cities Summit and CleanEnviro Summit Singapore, both held alongside SIWW 2018.

WLS delegates are invited to join sessions from the Water Convention Hot Issues Workshops and TechXchange on Sunday (8 July), to enjoy in-depth exchanges with innovators and investors on overcoming barriers to bring technologies closer to markets, before proceeding to the SIWW Welcome Reception.

On Monday (9 July), WLS delegates can discuss cross-cutting solutions with urban and environmental representatives, at high-level sessions like the In-Conversation, Opening Plenary and Joint Leaders Forum.

On Tuesday (10 July), WLS delegates can join the water-focused discussions on key emerging areas such as water reuse, smart water technologies and cyber security, before joining the closing discussions on topics discussed throughout the summit.

How should water, environment and transport management evolve to keep pace with urbanisation? Cities must be ready to embrace innovative ideas and solutions for the development of liveable and sustainable cities of the future.

Environment & Water Leaders Forum: Closing the Loop - Catalysing a Resilient and Sustainable Future

Venue: Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Level 5 Ballroom B-G

Today’s rapid urbanisation and population growth have put our finite natural resources under pressure. In the circular economy, resources such as materials and water can be continually cycled and reused; forming a closed loop system that designs out waste, reduces water and energy usage, and encourages resource efficiency. A circular economy model that makes better use of the finite resources can unlock business opportunities and allow companies to do more with less. Is circular economy gaining traction in both the public and private spheres? How are leaders and experts from the government, academics, business and international organisations taking action to shape the economy, bring circularity into our lives and safeguard a sustainable future?

Organised by SIWW and CESS, this session will see experts and leaders from the government, academics, business and international organisations share their views on the foundations of a circular economy, and how improved resource efficiency and the circular economy model can support global climate goals as outlined in the Paris Agreement on climate change.
